Principal Designer / Owner

Bonnie Kaye Whitfield is a former textile designer and printmaker turned Interior Designer. After years of making luxury home textiles and sourcing vintage pieces to style with them, she began diving towards the bigger picture at hand -- our spaces as a whole. From how we use our homes to the treasures + memories they hold inside, Bonnie is fascinated with our environments and the grand impact they possess.

Bonnie currently splits her time between the mountains of Johnson City, TN and the desert of Santa Fe, NM.

Her personal home style is a mix of her favorite travels and treasures. Think French cafe mixed with the New Mexico desert and a touch of Moroccan boho.

She holds an BFA in Art Education from the University of Georgia (once a high school teacher in Manhattan!) and an MFA in Printmaking from Pratt Institute in New York.

About Callie

Studio + Project Manager

Callie Pierce is the backbone to all things behind the scenes at BKS. She keeps projects moving, details organized, and every touchpoint feeling seamless for our clients - from first emails to final install days.  We've been lucky to have her on the team for over a year now!

She has a natural eye for creating spaces that feel collected and personal, often pulling from her love of vintage pieces, soft layered neutrals, and meaningful details that make a house feel like home. She believes the most beautiful spaces aren’t rushed - they’re built overtime, with intention.

Originally from Kingsport, Callie lives in her childhood home with her high school sweetheart and two kids. When she’s not at the BKS studio, you can find her sourcing for her antique booth (Piece of Patina in Sentimental Journey Antique Mall), coordinating wedding and events, or at the hot yoga studio!

About Mary Grace

Designer

Mary Grace Scharfstein is the newest team member to arrive at BKS.

As an NCIDQ licensed interior designer with a degree from the University of Tennessee and several years of experience in the commercial architecture realm, Mary Grace has a passion for the technical details that make a space feel thoughtful and harmonious. She believes a home should be a visual representation of the personality, passions and history of the people who dwell within it.

A Johnson City native, Mary Grace loves making a difference through the relationships built in her hometown through design. She considers herself a chameleon when it comes to design styles, adapting to each client’s interests and personal tastes.

When she’s not at the BKS studio, you can find her on the lake with her husband and pup (and soon to be baby girl!), or at the hot yoga studio. Fun fact - Mary Grace was Bonnie’s 6am yoga teacher before joining the BKS team!
